Our children had a brilliant day at Theatre Clwyd last Thursday. We created strange and wonderful planets for our aliens to live on and we watched the funny ‘How to Spot an Alien!’ The children had a great time.
Summer Extravaganza
What a night! Thank you to our wonderful PTA for their brilliant organisation, every member of staff for working so hard with the children, Mr Atherton for the sound system and to all parents for supporting the event. The stars of the show were the children who performed brilliantly – well done to you all. The night raised almost £3000! That money will support your children with their learning in school – thank you!!
Apologies for the quality of the photos!
Race for Life
A huge thank you to all the children who ran Race for Life on Friday 8th June – you did brilliantly. Thank you to all parents and friends who have sponsored the children.
So far, we have raised £1913.74 for Cancer Research! We will let you know the final total next week!
Victoria CP School Privacy Notice for Pupils and Parents
Dear Parents,
You may be aware that the Data Protection Act has evolved in to the GPDR (General Data Protection Regulation) and we must start implementing this by May 25th 2018.
To meet the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998 and Article 6 and 9 of the GDPR 2018, schools are required to issue a Privacy Notice to children and young people and/or parents and guardians summarising the information held on record about children and young people, why it is held, and the third parties to whom it may be passed.
This Privacy Notice provides information about the collection and processing of children’s or young people’s personal and performance information by the Welsh Government, Wrexham Local Authority (LA) and Victoria CP School.
Victoria CP School is the data controller.
Pupil Development Grant 2018-19
Victoria C P School, Wrexham – Pupil Deprivation Grant Statement
The purpose of the Pupil Deprivation Grant is to improve the educational attainment of pupils from low income families and who are entitled to free school meals (eFSM). Schools are expected to maximise the use of this funding by introducing sustainable strategies which will quickly lead to improved outcomes for pupils entitled to free school meals.
As a school, we want to learn from the best practice in Wales and beyond by:
- planning interventions that focus on improving the attainment of pupils from deprived backgrounds, regularly monitoring pupils’ progress and evaluating the impact of the intervention.
- integrating plans for the effective use of the PDG into the School Development Plan, basing our practice on sound evidence and including them as part of a whole school strategy.
- balancing whole school strategies with targeted interventions to ensure that all learners entitled to free school meals benefit as individuals, whilst the whole school also develops its ability to support every learner to achieve their full potential.
In 2018-19 Victoria C P School was allocated a total Pupil Deprivation Grant of £74.300.
Victoria C P School has a comprehensive plan, agreed and monitored by GwE and Wrexham Local Authority, to promote high expectations attainment and progress and to remove barriers to learning for pupils entitled to this funding.
We have used the funding to:
Provide additional teacher and teaching assistant time to focus on specific pupil support, to support outdoor learning in Foundation Phase, early intervention in Nursery and Reception and booster groups in the Infant and Junior Departments.
To provide extra resources for targeted support for pupils.
To provide staff to run the successful Families Connect Group encouraging families to participate in the life of their children at school.
To provide staff with extra training in relation to school priorities and raising standards of all pupils.
To continue extra music provision within the school.
Art of Baptism Celebration Evening
We had a lovely evening at All Saints’ Church last night to celebrate the wonderful art project between Andrea Hilditch, the church and Victoria CP School. The piece of work is now installed and looks absolutely beautiful. I want to say thank you to Andrea and Father Sam for involving our pupils in the project.
Our choir took part and sang wonderfully as usual and we had representatives from all classes who were specifically chosen by their teachers.
Andrea has presented school with a lovely plaque and book – please pop in to see them!
It was a lovely night.
